The Financial Singularity – Why AGI Attracts All Capital

The hypothesis of the Financial Singularity:

At some point in the 21st century, over 50% of all capital in first world economies will be allocated directly or indirectly to either creating or controlling AGI/post-human intelligence.

It will take different amounts of time for different groups to “get it” (i.e., the fact that money should essentially pour into the creation of general intelligence).

Of course, financial investment is not only in data centers, new hardware, talent acquisition, etc – it is also in government and regulatory influence:

This is all directly downstream of the Ambition Singularity:

At some point in the 21st century, over 90% of the most ambitious persons on Earth will be working directly or indirectly to either create or control AGI/post-human intelligence.

Money simply doesn’t have anything better to do than create God.

In fact, AGI is What Money Wished it Was:

Stacking up gold bars is a dubious aim in a world where AGI deities will soon exist.

Within Big Tech (GOOG, META, MSFT), competing to conjure AGI first is already self-evidently the goal. Within the AGI labs, this is also the stated goal.

In the rest of the economy, the transition towards AGI won’t be so direct and straightforward, but it’ll happen anyway.
