About me

Daniel Faggella is Founder and Head of Research at Emerj Artificial Intelligence Research. As the original host of Emerj’s AI in Business Podcast (the #1 B2B AI podcast online with over 7 million lifetime downloads) he has conducted over 1500 interviews over 10+ years with AI researchers, innovators, and business leaders – from Yoshua Bengio to AI leadership at Raytheon, Goldman Sachs, Google, NVIDIA, Palantir and more.

His main focus since 2012 (see: Cause) has been the emergence and flourishing of posthuman intelligence – through artificial general intelligence and/or brain-computer interface. He hosts The Trajectory podcast, exploring how innovators and regulators might prevent AGI risks, but also allow for the continued and necessary expansion of life beyond current humans.

His writing gained popularity in 2023 with the publishing of Worthy Successor, an article that spawned an online community, and an annual series of events in NYC, SF, and other global cities.

Daniel has been involved in AI policy since 2017, including involved at the OECD (where he is involved as a member of the AI Futures working group) and United Nations.

Daniel’s AI predictions and research has been featured in TechCrunch, Inc, Xconomy, Forbes, and more. His research is referenced in Harvard Business Review, the World Economic Forum, MIT Technology Review, and more.

He is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt, winning the title of 2011 national champion (IBJJF Pan America Games). He graduated with a masters degree from UPENN, focusing his thesis research on the cognitive science of skill acquisition. Daniel previously founded and sold an Inc 5000 educational eCommerce firm called Science of Skill LLC, based on his UPENN thesis work.

Born in a small town in Rhode Island, he now lives in Austin.
